Growing up, we went camping a lot. My family loved to go into the outdoors and spend time together. We always had such a great time. One of my favorite camping memories is about making S’mores.
It was so much fun to toast marshmallows over an open fire. Add in the chocolate and marshmallows, and you have the ultimate flavor combination.
Now that I have my own family, I love to continue the S’mores tradition. Im here to tell you that you dont have to go camping to enjoy this classic treat. Whether attending a summer party or having a family barbecue, S’mores are always the perfect weeknight dessert.
In Texas, the summers are incredibly hot. So, we eat a lot of ice cream. During the hot summer months, I like to combine ice cream and S’mores and create frozen treats.
During our last trip to Walmart, we picked up all of the ingredients for S’mores ice cream sandwiches. We couldn’t wait to assemble these yummy ice cream sandwiches.
We were pleasantly surprised when we were greeted by a large display containing all of the ingredients for S’mores. The delicious looking picture on the display made us want to eat S’mores even more.
If you dont have the display in your store, it is still very easy to locate all of the S’more components.
We found the Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars in the candy aisle. Like most kids, this is my daugher’s favorite place to visit inside Walmart.
We picked up the six pack of Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars. I think this package is the ideal size for S’mores.
We then headed to the cookie and cracker aisle to pick up our next ingredient. We easily located the Honey Maid Graham Crackers.
I was super excited to find the limited edition Honey Maid Graham Cracker Squares. They are exclusive to Walmart and are such a cool variation on the classic product line. I love that I can easily put S’mores together with these new convenient graham squares.
Next, we headed to one of my favorite Walmart aisles, the one that contains all of the baking ingredients.
We picked up a bag of Kraft’s Jet Puffed Marshmallows. I can never buy enough marshmallows because my husband and daughter both love them. My daughter loves to eat them as a snack.
After our trip, we went into the kitchen to prepare our delicious treats. It is so easy and fun to put these weeknight desserts together.
To speed up the prep process, I separated out the ingredients and created an assembly line.
After I created the assembly line, we got to work putting together our incredible S’mores. Here is the process:
S’mores Ice Cream Sandwiches
Ingredients:
- Hershey’s Chocolate Bars
- Graham Crackers
- Marshmallows
- Ice Cream
Instructions:
- Break up the chocolate bars and melt in the microwave on low heat. Stir every 15 seconds until melted.
- Melt marshmallows in the microwave for 15 seconds.
- Dip each graham cracker in the melted chocolate, coating one side.
- Top with ice cream.
- Top one side with the two toasted marshmallows.
- Top with three squares of Hershey’s chocolate.
- Combine to form an ice cream sandwich.
- Serve immediately or store in the freezer.
You may be wondering why I coated the inside of each graham cracker with melted chocolate. The chocolate serves as a barrier between the crackers and the ice cream. So, the crackers stay crunchy and don’t get soggy as the ice cream melts. Easy and functional, right?
For a clean eating experience, I like to wrap each sandwich in wax paper. I then completely cover each sandwich in plastic wrap for storage in my freezer and cooler.
During a barbecue or other outdoor event, I just pull them out of the cooler and immediately serve dessert. When you bring these S’mores ice cream sandwiches to a party, you will be the most popular person in attendance!
