The Hundred Foot Journey Recipes

ByJessica Wellington Leave a Comment June 13, 2014

If you are a foodie, you must be looking forward to the upcoming Disney film, The Hundred Foot Journey.

About The Hundred Foot Journey

The film is about the Kadam family’s experience opening a restaurant, the Maison Mumbai, in the South of France. The restaurant is led by the very talented culinary ingénue Hassan Kadam.

However, things go a little less smoothly when their unfriendly new neighbor and chef hears about the restaurant. Madame Mallory of the Michelin starred, classical French restaurant, Le Saule Pluereur, is not too happy about the new eatery.

She protests the location of the Maison Mumbai because it is 100 feet from her own well respected restaurant. As a result, a dispute develops between the two eating establishments.

In the end Madame Mallory has a change of heart and realizes that her competitor is a very talented chef. She mentors him and he hones his unique talent of combining Indian and French cuisine into amazing dishes.

The film is directed by Lasse Hallström, and stars Academy Award-winner Helen Mirren. It is is produced by Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey and Juliet Blake. The executive producers are Caroline Hewitt and Carla Gardini. The screenplay is written by Steven Knight, based on the novel “The Hundred-Foot Journey” by Richard C. Morais.

The Hundred-Foot Journey will be released in theaters on August 8, 2014.
