The 2018 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration was packed with plenty of Star Wars updates!
Bob Chapek, Chairman Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, gave us a glimpse of a few new additions that will appear in the very near future.
Star Wars: A Galaxy’s Edge
All Star Wars fans are anticipating the opening of Star Wars: A Galaxy’s Edge. Lucasfilm and the Walt Disney Imagineers are working to create an unparalleled experience that will completely amaze fans.
In 2019, guests at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in California will be able to enter into the Star Wars world.
As you walk through the new land, you will find yourself at a remote trading post on the edge of space. Surrounded by Star Wars characters, this world will come to life.
You will be able to see famous items from the iconic films in real life. Can you imagine walking up to a Millenium Falcon?
How would you feel as you approached an actual X-wing Starfighter?
This Star Wars experience will be completely realistic. The Disney Imagineers are pushing the boundaries like never before.
In this new land, not only will you be able to see a Millenium Falcon, you will be able to get into the pilot’s seat!
Another big attraction is going to be a star destroyer experience. You will experience being in the hangar bay in the middle of a battle.
As you walk around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you will also see the First Order and other famous Star Wars characters. As you progress through the world, you will be able to build a reputation that adds to the experience.
In addition to incredible attractions, these lands will also feature exclusive Star Wars merchandise.
Star Wars Themed Hotel
As a part of the immersive Star Wars experience, guests can even stay at a themed hotel. This groundbreaking hotel sets the scene for a truly authentic Star Wars story and will feature a multi-day adventure. All of the windows will even feature a view of space.
As you check in, you will leave earth and progress through the galaxy. Guests will be able to wear Star Wars attire. At Walt Disney World, this hotel will be connected to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Land at Disney Hollywood Studios.
“This hotel will stand out among all of our hotels around the globe,” said Chapek.
