Growing up on Army bases overseas, my family looked forward to receiving Christmas cards in the mail. Since long distance calls were pretty expensive, we relied on the mail for regular communication with loved ones.
I can still remember the excitement of receiving our Christmas cards. Whenever I saw the Hallmark crown stamped on the envelope, I knew I was about to open something special.
Now that I have my own family, I love to send Hallmark cards to my relatives over the holidays. It is a Christmas tradition I continue with my daughter.
In order to stock up on Christmas cards, my family visited our local Walmart to check out this year’s options.
During our shopping trip, I was amazed at the variety of Hallmark holiday cards. I love that they offer such a wide range. From comedy to cards for kids, Hallmark has everyone covered this holiday season.
My six-year-old daughter loves looking at cards. Every time we visit Walmart, she heads right for the Hallmark cards.
This year is a big deal. Since she is in Kindergarten, she can now write sentences. As a result, she wants to send her own Christmas cards and fill them out by herself.
She was beyond thrilled when she spotted a selection of Hallmark cards featuring Frozen characters. She chose three of them.
As we walked up and down the aisle, we noticed the Hallmark Ornaments. There are a great selection of options, including 16 Walmart exclusives, resin figures, Holiday Barbie and many more.
My daughter chose to buy a Frozen Elsa ornament.
When thinking about our chilly Hallmark Frozen themed cards and ornament, we decided to whip up a batch of Peppermint White Hot Chocolate.
Peppermint White Hot Chocolate Recipe
Ingredients:
- 3 cups milk
- 1 cup half and half
- 1 cup white chocolate chips + 1/4 cup for melting
- 1/4 tsp. peppermint extract
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 candy cane
- 1 crushed candy cane
- Whipped cream
Instructions:
In a pan, over low heat, melt the milk, half and half and white chocolate. Stir constantly.
Once everything is melted and combined, remove from heat and add the extracts.
Stir and set aside. Melt 1/4 cup white chocolate chips on a plate and coat the bottom of the candy cane. (It is going to be a fun stir stick.)
Using the same chocolate, coat the rim of your mug and roll in the crushed candy cane.
Pour the peppermint white hot chocolate into your mug, top with whipped cream and insert the candy cane stir stick.
Doesn’t this look like Christmas in a cup? I think it is the perfect beverage to drink while filling out Christmas cards.
My daughter loved writing out her very own Christmas cards. I know our relatives will be thrilled with these special Hallmark cards.

I LOVE that she can write her own messages now. My son is in first grade and that literally melts my heart! I also LOVE your recipe – the idea of rimming the mug in peppermint is GENIUS! Thanks for sharing! #client
