I’m receiving Freaky Friday: A New Musical to facilitate this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’m a huge fan of the movie Freaky Friday. I loved the original movie that starred Jodie Foster and the more recent version that featured Lindsay Lohan.
Disney has added an all-new version to the mix! For this film, you can expect a fun movie with great music and dancing. From the network that created Teen Beach, Descendants and Zombies, you can bet this new musical will become an instant hit.
We loved both Descendants films and Zombies! From the colorful costumes to the amazing music, we can easily watch them over and over again. So, we are really excited about Freaky Friday: A New Musical.
Freaky Friday: A New Musical is based on the Disney Theatrical Productions’ stage adaptation of the novel by Mary Rodgers.
Ellie Blake is a 16-year-old teenager. She is a typical teenager who has a messy room, wears sloppy clothes and always has a careless attitude. Katherine, Ellie’s mom, is the exact opposite. She is super organized and wants her daughter to be neater and have a better attitude.
Ellie is constantly arguing with her mother and bickering with her brother. To make matters worse, she still really misses her father who passed away a few years ago. So, when her mother gets ready to marry her fiance, Mike, Ellie couldn’t be more upset.
During a big quarrel, the mother and daughter accidentally break a treasured hourglass given to Ellie by her father. As a result, they magically trade bodies. Ellie is now the mother and Katherine is now the daughter.
The two have to assume their new identities at work and at school, which leads to a lot of hilariously crazy situations. In the end, they learn to understand and appreciate each other.
Freaky Friday: A New Musical is available now on DVD. It features exclusive bonus content like bloopers, deleted scenes and audition tapes.
