One of my favorite holidays is the 4th of July. I love to decorate and make fun patriotic food.
The perfect breakfast for the 4th of July is a batch of flag waffles. Not only are they so easy to prepare, your kids will love making them in the kitchen.
You can use a box of waffle mix or whip up one from scratch. Either way, your kids will have a blast making these waffles!
Flag Waffles
Ingredients:
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 & ¾ cups milk
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- ¼ tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Combine the eggs, milk and oil and vanilla and beat until mixed thoroughly.
- Mix together the dry ingredients.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.
- Stir until combined.
- Separate the batter into three bowls
- Use red food coloring in one bowl to make red batter.
- Use blue food coloring in one bowl to make blue batter.
- Grease your waffle iron.
- Spoon blue batter in the corner of each waffle well to create the blue star section.
- Alternate red and white to create the stripes.
- Cook according to waffle maker instructions.
