I don’t know a single person who doesn’t like rice krispies treats. My whole family loves them, especially me! I decided to make a batch with a patriotic theme by using sprinkles and cookie cutters. They came out great! They are almost too cute to eat. Not only do these treats taste great, they look adorable on a table at a 4th of July event.
My daughter loved helping me put these treats together. We had so much fun making this patriotic dessert.
This is a great cooking project for young kids. They can do everything from cutting out the treats to adding their favorite sprinkles. I used a United States cookie cutter, a star and a flag.
Here are some things I’ve learned over the years about making rice krispies treats. Trust me, I’ve made a lot of treats. I’ve discovered that the name brand Rice Krispies cereal and Kraft Jet-Puffed marshmallows make the best treats. I also think they taste better when you make them on the stove as opposed to the microwave.
Fourth of July Rice Krispies Treats Instructions
- Prepare the treats according to the original Rice Krispies treats recipe.
- Once they have cooled in the pan, use cookie cutters to cut out the shapes.
- Decorate with sprinkles.
- You can serve these on a plate or on a stick.
If you are hosting an event, I think it would be a lot of fun to let the kids make their own treats. You could set up a fun patriotic treat making station. Set up cookie cutters, the tray of uncut treats and sprinkles. Let the kids cut out their own treats and decorate them. This would be a fun activity and the kids would really enjoy making their own treats.
I hope you have fun with your children making these 4th of July rice krispies treats.
